10th anniversary reunion panel: animating tatsumi
Hear from the team behind Tatsumi as we celebrate the 10th year anniversary of one of Singapore's first animated feature directed by Eric Khoo.
Tatsumi premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, and was selected as the Singaporean entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 84th Academy Awards.
Join us for a wide-ranging panel discussion and a behind-the-scenes peek into how the film was brought to life and made such a mark for Singapore animation.

Award-winning filmmaker and Cultural Medallion recipient Eric Khoo who helms Zhao Wei Films has been credited for reviving the Singapore film industry and for putting Singapore onto the International film map in 1995. 'Be With Me' opened the Directors Fortnight in Cannes 2005 and 'My Magic' his fourth feature was nominated for the Cannes Palme d’Or in 2008. His first animated feature 'Tatsumi' was invited to the 64th Cannes Film Festival. In 2012 Khoo headed the juries at Asian Film Awards, Rotterdam International Film Festival and in 2013 the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival. He was invited to be on the official Cannes, short film competition jury in 2017.

Masato Yamamoto is the President Director of PT FUJIFILM Indonesia (FUJIFILM Indonesia).
Yamamoto has pursued a career in the Fujifilm Group for nearly 20 years with a major role and contribution in international market development of the imaging business including instax, Fujifilm's instant camera brand, from the headquarter in Japan and in several subsidiaries such as FUJIFILM France and FUJIFILM Asia Pacific.

Since 1995, Fong Cheng has worked with all manner of clients, from MNCs to governmental bodies.
In 2001, she came on board Zhao Wei Films. Since then, she has produced many of the company's most noteworthy TV series as well as films including Khoo's Be With Me and No Day Off, as well as Royston Tan's 15 and 881.
A crowning achievement for her was producing Eric Khoo’s My Magic, which was invited to compete in the prestigious Main Competition of the 61st Cannes Film Festival. Fong Cheng also produced Eric Khoo’s first animation feature film, Tatsumi, which was invited to the 64th Cannes Film Festival and made its North American premiere at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).

Kazz Sato
Sound director, tatsumi
Born in Shizuoka, Japan, Kazz Sato graduated from the School of Audio Engineering in Singapore and became the resident Sound Director in Muse.
Kazz manages all aspects of audio development in his company and has worked on TV and radio commercials, TV programmes and more.
He has done collaborations with many Singapore-based directors like Djinn, Sam Loh, Royston Tan, Gilbert Chan, Eric Khoo and many others.

SENIOR MANAGER, SECTION HEAD DIPLOMA IN ANIMATION & 3D ARTS NGEE ANN POLYTECHNIC
Phil is responsible for the character animation component of Ngee Ann Polytechnic Diploma in Animation & 3D Arts.
He was the Animation producer, creative animation & creative director, editor, CG Producer, and lead storyboard artist for the 2D animated feature film ʻTatsumiʼ, (written and directed by Eric Khoo).
Formerly at Infinite Frameworks Studios, Singapore and Indonesia. Director, also: co-writer, production designer, co-producer, initial pipeline development, and editor for independent CG movie made in South East Asia (“Sing to the Dawn").

Christine Sham is a film and TV composer, keyboardist, music arranger, producer and educator based in Singapore.
A Berklee College of Music degree graduate majoring in Professional Music (performance and arranging). She toured across the globe with some of the biggest Chinese Pop stars including A*mei, Stefanie Sun, F.I.R, Eric Moo, Angela Zhang and David Tao.
Her breakthrough film scoring in 2005, "Be With Me" by Singapore director Eric Khoo led her to score even more movies from Khoo such as In the Room, Tatsumi, Ramen Teh and more.

Director/animator Jerrold Chong graduated with a BFA in Animation at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).
His films have screened at numerous international film festivals, including Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, Busan International Film Festival, Annecy International Animated Film Festival, Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF), Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival in Bristol, Animatricks Animation Festival in Helsinki, Short Shorts Film Festival in Tokyo and Bucheon International Animation Festival in Korea.
Most recently he co-directed the official NDP 2021 Music Video “The Road Ahead” which has garnered over a million views on Youtube. He also wrote and co-directed the animated short film, Piece of Meat, which premiered at the 2019 Cannes Director’s Fortnight
