Film Line up and Programme
We've got 17 groundbreaking films this year, selected from 1,321 entries. Needless to say, selecting the best from a pool of outstanding works was tough! But they are finally here. The films we've chosen stand out for their narratives and unique art styles. We've also dedicated our focus on Asian Animation this year as there's been a tremendous spike in independent animation filmmaking within the region.

Focus on Women
in 2019, we had 1,416 entries from 80 different countries. There were many great entries this year and it was tough to pick the final 19 films. Many of these were hand-drawn animations which conjured up evocative and believable worlds.
A Word Please
in 2018, we received over 1,500 entries from 90 different countries! The selection process for this year was tough, as we received tons of films with high standards of story-telling and craft. We were proud to showcase the final 21 selected films and hand out the Golden Durian awards to the winners.
This is year when our festival jumped to the next level. In 2017, we announced the Golden Durian Awards. Around 400 films from 50 countries were submitted. 19 of these got to compete in our premiere awards ceremony. We had three award categories: Best Film, Best Director and Audience Choice.
